Academic Eligibility Doctorate

Note:

  • View Research Themes of PhD programs.
  • The candidate passing University Entrance Test or having valid GRE/GAT (Subject) score for PhD admission at BU, needs to develop quality research proposal and submit to the Departmental Admission Committee.
  • The only exception to the 17.5/18 years education rule shall be a letter from the HEC authorizing a candidate with less than 17.5/18 years education in unambiguous terms for admission into a PhD program.

MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

PhD Management Sciences

  • 17.5/18 years of MS/MPhil or equivalent education from an HEC-  recognized university in relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • Initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of PhD admission.

PhD Economics

  • MS/MPhil economics degree (17.5/18 years of education) with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • Initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of PhD admission.

ENGINEERING SCIENCES

PhD Computer Sciences

  • 18 Years Education in the relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • Initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of PhD admission.

PhD Electrical Engineering

  • 18 Years Education (MS/MPhil/equivalent) in the relevant discipline from an HEC recognized university with minimum CGPA 3.0/4.0 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • Initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of PhD admission.

PhD Software Engineering

  • 18 Years of education (MS/MPhil/equivalent) in the relevant discipline from an HEC recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% score in the relevant computing domain (Computer Science/Software Engineering/IT) or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • Initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of PhD admission.

PhD Computer Engineering

  • 18 year of education (MS/MPHIL/equivalent degree) in relevant discipline form an HEC recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • Initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of PhD admission.

Ph.D. (Mathematics)

  • 18 years of education (MS/MPhil/equivalent degree) in Mathematics from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

EARTH & ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

Ph.D. Geology

  • 5/18 years of education (MS/MPhil/equivalent degree) in Earth Sciences from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

Ph.D. Environmental Sciences

  • 5/18 years of education (MS/MPhil/equivalent degree) in Environmental Sciences from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

Ph.D. Geophysics

  • 5/18 years of education (MS/MPhil/equivalent degree) in Geophysics from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

Ph.D. International Relations

  • 18 years of education (MS/MPhil/equivalent degree) in a relevant discipline from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Ph.D. Clinical Psychology

  • 18 years of education in Clinical Psychology or relevant field of Psychology including clinical internship and course contents from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

Ph.D. Organizational Psychology

  • 18 years of education in the relevant field of Psychology from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

MEDIA STUDIES

Ph.D. Media Studies

  • 18 years of education (MS/MPhil/equivalent degree) in a relevant discipline from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

LAW

Ph.D. Law

  • LLM degree from an HEC-recognized university with a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0 (Semester System) or 60% marks (Annual System).
  • Pre-qualification for LLB is also a mandatory requirement.
  • NTS-GAT (Subject) or GRE (Subject) Test passed with minimum 60% Marks or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks).
  • An initial Research Proposal/Statement of Purpose is required at the time of Ph.D. admission.

HEALTH SCIENCES

Ph.D. Health Sciences

  • MPhil /equivalent degree from HEC-recognized university having 17.5/18
    years of education and a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 (semester system)
    or 60% marks (only where CGPA is not given/available) in relevant field of
    Anatomy Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology-Histopathology, Pathology-
    Microbiology, Pharmacology and Public health.
  • The only exception to the 17.5/18 years of education rule shall be a letter
    from the HEC authorizing a candidate with less than 17.5/18 years of
    education in unambiguous terms for admission into a PhD programme,
  • Completion of one year of house job from PMC recognized Institution / Hospital.
  • Valid PMC registration certificate.
  • Two years of teaching experience in the respective field will be given preference.
  • All mentioned certificates and degrees duly attested by HEC are to be produced at the time of the interview to avoid ineligibility.
  • Attestation of HEC’s attestation on the candidate’s local degrees and cumulative transcript (on the back of the original degrees and transcript). Equivalency HEC’s equivalency certificate for the candidate’s foreign degrees.
  • Aptitude Test NTS-GAT (Subject Test), or GRE (Subject Test), passed with minimum 60% marks, or BU Admission Test (70% passing marks). The result is submitted at the time of application.
