Bahria University organized a round table discussion at Islamabad Campus on Cyber Security issues in order to promote the awareness about Cyber Crimes among different stakeholders .The discussion was aimed at increasing the recognition of cyber security issues and helping the users to deal with it.
The discussion was chaired by Honorable Pro Rector Bahria University Rear Admiral ( R ) Shahid Saeed HI (M) and was attended by prominent experts including Syed Ismail Shah, Chairman PTA, Mr. Khalid Banuri DG ACDA, Mr. Mudassar Hussain Member Telecom, Ministry of Information Technology, Mr. Khalid Rehman, DG, Institute of Policy Studies, Mr. Ammar Jaffari Ex-Project Director Nr3C, Ms. Ameena Sohail, Member Legal, Ministry of Information Technology, Mr. Hassan Iftikhar Deputy Director, Federal Investigation Agency, Dr. Rizwana Karim Abbasi Assistant Professor, National Defence university Islamabad, Ms. Saadia Zahoor Senior Lecturer, Department of Law BU. Discussion was moderated by Dr. Nadia Khadam Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Law, Bahria university.
The participants highlighted the threat of Cyber Crime and the security issues related to it. It was clarified that Cyber Crime and Cyber security are two different things. Crime Security is all about protecting the public and private sectors from Cyber Crime.
Ministry of Information Technology reps. highlighted progress on cyber security policy they requested other organizations to help them to promote security awareness among people and make their policies more productive and result oriented. It was discussed that added that Data protection law is equally important and technology should be encouraged to deal with such threat. In the discussion, all participants agreed on the formation of mechanism and strategy to handle Cyber Attacks at all levels.
The round table discussion was concluded with a unanimous emphasis on the need of cyber security and policy at national level. Mr. Abdur Rauf Khatana, Head Department of Law Bahria University Islamabad Campus thanked all the participants for their contributions.
