A two day international conference on media and conflict started today at Bahria University Islamabad. President Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi inaugurated and chaired the opening session. The conference is first academic initiative in the country which seeks to highlight and assess the Pakistani media’s role in covering conflict and violence in the country. Over the course of two days, national and internationally acclaimed scholars, academicians and senior journalists will analyses media discourses and their impact on conflicts, including terrorism and violent extremism. In addition, academics from over 34 universities from Pakistan and across the world will present their research in the field of peace and conflict studies.
