The Research Cell organized a Research Spotlight Session titled “Reimagining Medical Education and Healthcare Delivery Using Artificial Intelligence: The Pathosight Approach” on 16 February 2026 at the VLC Room from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The session was arranged for faculty members to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medical education and healthcare delivery.
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address from Sr. Professor Dr. Wafa Omer, Director Research, BUHSCI. She warmly welcomed the guest speaker and highlighted her professional achievements and contributions to healthcare innovation.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Joharia Azhar from Pathodont Polyclinics, delivered a highly engaging and thought-provoking presentation on the evolution and expanding role of Artificial Intelligence in modern healthcare. She traced the key milestones in AI development and highlighted its rapid transformation from a conceptual innovation to a practical clinical tool. Emphasizing the growing relevance of AI in medical practice, she underscored the need to integrate AI education into medical curricula to enhance diagnostic precision, strengthen clinical decision-making, and optimize patient management.
A major highlight of the session was a live demonstration of AI-powered healthcare applications, including AI-based medical note-generation tools and advanced platforms such as SANA AI and Pathosight Medical AI. These demonstrations effectively illustrate how AI can streamline clinical documentation, reduce administrative burden, enhance workflow efficiency, and promote evidence-based practice in real-time clinical settings.
Dr. Joharia further elaborated on the Pathosight approach, which seamlessly integrates AI-driven solutions into routine healthcare services while maintaining ethical standards, data security, and professional accountability. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which faculty members actively engaged with the speaker and shared valuable insights on the practical implementation of AI technologies within medical institutions.
At the end of the session, Major General Prof. Dr. Shazia Nisar HI(M) (Retd), Principal BUCM Islamabad, presented shields to the guest speaker and her team as a token of appreciation.
Overall, the session was informative and engaging, offering valuable insights into the future of AI in medical education and healthcare delivery.
