BUHSCI - Cervical Cancer Awareness

Bahria University College of Medicine, BUHSCI observed Cervical Cancer Awareness Month through a month-long awareness campaign in January, with a Cervical Cancer Awareness Guest Speaker Talk and Walk on 16 January 2026. The activity was jointly organized by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Community Medicine & Public Health.
The session commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Saima Qamar, HOD OBGYN. The key highlight was an informative talk by Dr. Soofia Yunus, Director Programmes, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, who emphasized the importance of early detection and the pivotal role of HPV vaccination in the prevention of cervical cancer. Brief remarks were also shared by Prof. Dr. Ayesha Basharat and Dr. Beenish Khurram, reinforcing awareness and preventive strategies.
The Principal, Maj. Gen. Prof. Dr. Shazia Nisar HI(M) (Retd) presented a token of appreciation to the guest speaker. Faculty members and staff participated in an awareness walk across the campus, wearing teal-colored ribbons as a symbol of commitment to cervical cancer prevention and women’s health.
