FACULTY PERSPECTIVE

Advancing Undergraduate Research & Innovation

Proud to have represented Bahria University at the International Conference on Cognitive and Generative Intelligence 2026 (ICCGI 2026), held at the University of Swabi, as a Keynote Speaker and Session Chair for the AI/Computer Science domain.

A significant achievement was the acceptance of eight research papers from Bahria University. Five were undergraduate research papers from the Department of Computer Science, produced by students working under my supervision. All five focused on contemporary AI topics, reflecting our commitment to engaging undergraduates in emerging technologies and meaningful research.

Throughout their research, my students went beyond academic study by actively consulting national and international field experts, seeking feedback and guidance to strengthen their work and connect it with real-world perspectives. At the conference, they had the opportunity to present their research, interact with students, faculty members and experts, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. Four student groups also presented their projects through posters.

During my keynote talk, I showcased selected undergraduate semester projects. It was encouraging to receive appreciation from faculty members and academic representatives from different universities for the quality of research and practical projects being developed by our students. Several faculty members also expressed interest in establishing joint academic and research collaborations with Bahria University to motivate and engage their own students.

Another proud moment was Bahria University's Appreciation Certificate for the highest number of publications at the conference. The eight accepted papers represented contributions from Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES). I also appreciate Dr. Saad (CS) for sharing his perspectives on AI through a conference talk.

This experience reaffirmed my belief that meaningful research and innovation can begin at the undergraduate level when students receive the right guidance, opportunities, and exposure to the wider research community.

Congratulations to all participating students, supervisors, and colleagues from CS, EE, and EES. Proud to be part of this journey and to represent Bahria University!
