BUHSCI, 26 October 2026 — Reinforcing Bahria University's commitment to academic excellence, international collaboration, and innovation in health professions education, faculty members of Bahria University Health Sciences (BUHSCI) facilitated an online pre-conference workshop at the International Conference on Medical Education (ICME) 2026, “Shaping the Future of Health Professions Education: Innovation, Leadership and Excellence,” in collaboration with Riphah International University and The Maldives National University, focusing on advancing patient-centred communication in pharmacy education.

Titled “Beyond the Script: Teaching Patient-Centred Communication in Pharmacy Education: Motivational Interviewing, Cultural Humility, and Role-Play Design,” the workshop was designed, conducted, and facilitated by Dr. Aisha Nasir Hashmi (HEC-IPFP Assistant Professor) at BUHSCI and co-facilitated by Brig. Prof. Dr Farrukh Hayat Khan, Head of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences at BUCM-BUHSCI. Together, the facilitators highlighted the importance of empathy, active listening, cultural responsiveness, and shared decision-making in strengthening patient–healthcare professional relationships.

A key highlight was the screening of a specially developed patient–pharmacist communication role-play video, designed to demonstrate practical communication techniques and bring the workshop's core concepts to life.

This international academic engagement underscores Bahria University's continued commitment to empowering its faculty, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and advancing innovative approaches to health professions education.
