Guest Lecture (Differentiating Language Disorders from Psychological and Behavioral Concerns)

As part of the Department's ongoing industry-academia collaboration efforts, the Department of Professional Psychology, Bahria University H-11 Campus, hosted a guest lecture titled "Differentiating Language Disorders from Psychological and Behavioral Concerns." The Department welcomed Ms. Shumyla, Speech Language Pathologist and Head of Department at PediaCare Therapy Clinic, who delivered the session as resource person.

Drawing on her clinical experience, Ms. Shumyla discussed key markers that help distinguish true language disorders from behavioral or psychologically-rooted communication difficulties, along with practical insights on early identification and referral pathways. She also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between psychologists and speech language pathologists in ensuring accurate diagnosis and effective intervention.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A involving MS Clinical Psychology students and practicing psychologists. The Department thanks Ms. Shumyla for sharing her valuable expertise and making this an insightful learning experience.
