World Maritime Day

World Maritime Day 2015 will be celebrated internationally on Thursday, 24 September. This year the theme for World Maritime Day 2015 is “Maritime Education and Training”. The theme is adopted to focus attention on the wider spectrum of maritime education and training, in particular its adequacy and quality, as the bedrock of a safe and secure shipping industry, which needs to preserve the quality, practical skills and competence of qualified human resources, in order to ensure its sustainability

World Maritime Day at NCMPR

National Centre Form Maritime Policy Research (NCMPR), Bahria University is celebrating the World Maritime Day on 21st September. On this day, NCMPR has planned to organize Photography Contest and Maritime Poster Competition.

 

World Maritime Photo Contest 2015

National Centre for Maritime Policy Research is committed to create Maritime education, awareness and training. Pakistan is enriched with maritime resources. There is a lot more to explore in maritime sector and we want to see it all through your eyes. Capture vibrant moments which express what marine life means to you. We want to see your creativity!

Anyone who has passion of photography can participate. The Photo Contest will end on 18th September, 2015. Entries submitted after 18th September, 2015 will not be eligible.

Objects to photograph:

Related to sea: Explore marine living organism and plants including pollution, fishermen’s activity, colours of sea, aquaculture, marine life, marine sports, ships, boats, marine resources, marine environment, fishing, ports, tourism, maritime security, life at sea and lots more!

Conditions:

  • Each submission must have a brief proposal and caption to define the theme of your photographs. (Please note there is no restriction of numbers of photographs. Send as many as you want)
  • To ensure eligibility for the contest all entries must have 5 megapixels resolution. Please only submit web resolution files at the time of entry.
  • All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.
  • Entries may originate in any format so long as they are submitted electronically in a .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format.
  • Previously published photos would not be accepted.
  • Pictures should be taken in the year 2015. (only recent pictures will be entertained)

How to enter

All images must be submitted through only our email address photocontest@bimcs.edu.pk including “Registration Form” with all required information, including your name, email and other information about your photo submission.

Submitted Photos can be used in some other activities organized / undertaken by NCMPR. Copyright will not be claimed by contestants / any person.

Maritime Poster Competition

A Poster Contest is being organized by National Centre for Maritime Policy Research (NCMPR) on the occasion of World Maritime Day at Bahria University Karachi.The theme of the contest is “Maritime World of Pakistan “. Presenting a poster is a great way to express your thoughts. In this contest, participants are encouraged to portray and share their ideas about Maritime Security, Piracy at sea, Offshore Drilling, Maritime Environment, Marine Pollution and Resources, Ships and Ports, Marine Habitat etc.

The aim of this competition is to create awareness about maritime issues and provide an opportunity to young people to express their vision of maritime world.

Guidelines for Submissions

The initial proposal should include a one page abstract / theme for the poster in MS-Word format. The poster can be designed in either portrait or landscape format with the maximum dimensions: 4×3 ft. Participants can use any type of paper and variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint, to express the theme.

Registration

The contest is open for students of Schools. Participants can register themselves on the Email competitions@bimcs.edu.pk.

Judgement and Awards

Each poster will be judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme. The winner will receive Cash prizes and Special awards during Maritime Day Celebration Ceremony held on 21 September 2015. Special prizes will be awarded to runner up entries. All the participants will receive certificate of participation. In addition, submitted posters may be used in some other activities organized / undertaken by NCMPR.
