Prof. Bari Malik
Bari Malik is proactive, lateral thinking, experienced professional who possesses a keen entrepreneurial and commercial sense allied with a drive and commitment to achieving results. Possesses excellent management and cross cultural communication skills gained by successfully working within both business and academic environments on projects in Europe, Russia & CIS, Middle East and South Asia. An open minded and motivated team player, with strong project and financial management skills, as well as a strategic thinker able to inspire, innovate and drive.
He currently holds academic appointments at University of Roehampton & Regents University in the United Kingdom, as well as being Visiting Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Maritime Policy Research at Bahria University in Pakistan. He has also held academic appointments at Coventry University, University of Greenwich and Oxford Brookes University
He is a current board member of The Pakistan Society (UK), which is an international bilateral UK registered charity. The Patrons of which are HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh and HE The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi.
Since 2016 has been a business consultant to the senior management of Crowd for Angels, currently Europe’s 4th ranked crowdfunding platform, based in the City of London and is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Reporting directly to CEO Tony De Nazareth, specifically advising on business development in emerging markets for raising funds for companies through the issue of shares (equity) and crowd bonds (debt) to investors.
Appointed in 2011 as Board Advisor to Quality and Assessments International (UK) Ltd, reporting to the CEO John Kerr (formerly CEO of Pearson / Edexcel Foundation/Pearson). Specifically advising on qualifications and curriculum support as well as compliance with the requirements for awarding organizations and the validity of QAI qualifications as set out by relevant stakeholders.
Elected in 2010 as Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce (UK) founded in 1754, joining the ranks of Charles Dickens, Benjamin Franklin, Karl Marx, Adam Smith, William Hogarth, Stephen Hawking, Nelson Mandela, David Attenborough and Tim Berners-Lee.
He has also held senior management positions in a UK public company including Director, South Asia – ITE Group Plc. (which has recently rebranded as Hyve Plc) where he reported directly to both Chairman/CEO & COO, to initiate formation of new JV companies and country sales agencies within South Asia. Recommended and presented appropriate strategic business plans with responsibilities focused on opening up new revenue streams within the region. Established relations at ministerial and board level with key governmental institutions and commercial interests. Formalised and standardised best practice procedures for new business and event development, and published in the company’s best practice manual.
As well as the position of Technical Director – ITE Travel Exhibitions, ITE Group Plc. ( now Hyve Plc) Operationally responsible for a flagship portfolio of International Travel and Tourism exhibitions and conferences in Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, and Czech Republic. Recognised for being instrumental in creating a model cross-functional team. This resulted in improving customer service and delivery as well as significantly increasing gross turnover year-on-year.
