HOLDS 3rd CONVOCATION OF MBBS GRADUATES
Karachi: The Third Convocation of the Bahria University Medical & Dental College, Karachi was held on 8th April 2016at 11a.m to commemorate the academic accomplishments of its MBBS students. The students were also honored with Gold and Silver Medals and Certificates for their outstanding achievements in their academic career at the convocation 2016 held today. Mrs. Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination as a Chief Guest graced the occasion by awarding the degrees to this year graduating students.
In total 91 students were awarded degrees. To acknowledge the outstanding performance of students, Mrs. Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for National Health Services awarded Gold Medal to Ms. Maria Riffat and Silver Medal to Ms. MiznahHasham Khan. The students who achieved distinction in their respective department were MiznahHasham Khan, Mahin Amanullah, Maria Riffat, Javeria Faiz, M. Nirman Shahzad, Syeda Yumna Zahra, DuaMehfoozMemon, SyedaAniqaJaffery and WardaZaffar.
While speaking to the students at the occasion, Mrs. Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination congratulated the students and their parents on their splendid success and said that the occasion of convocation reflects on the maturity and performance of any educational institution.Bahria University Medical and Dental College has already reached a prestigious level of maturity and competency by conceiving and implementing initiatives and academic programs with special focus on grooming and capacity building of the faculty and medical students.She said that the Government is fully cognizant of the importance of Health issues in Pakistan and is endeavoring to remove bottle necks effecting the health sector and the service delivery of healthcare to masses. At the end, she gave message to graduating students that young doctors should conduct themselves in a manner in practical life that should uphold the traditions of their noble profession and bring good name to their institution and country by serving humanity to best of their ability.
Earlier in his welcome address, Vice Admiral (Retd) TanveerFaizHI(M) said that the universities have great responsibility of producing quality graduates who could contribute positively in various fields. Bahria University has not stopped its journey of academic excellence and it will relentlessly continue to strive for further progress in the field of higher education and research. The University is taking all measures and steps to keep abreast its students with high quality education at par with other reputed medical institutions of the country and abroad. At present the progeny of BUMDC include eight batches of medical and four batches of dental students. BUMDC further extends support to these passing out young doctors by provision of clinical training as house job and clinical postgraduate programs in various specialties at PNS-SHIFA for their career build up. These programs are recognized by College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC). He further said that Bahria University is committed to provide best possible teaching and learning environment to its students along with infrastructure to the medical college and the teaching hospital.
The Rector Bahria University congratulated the students and their parents and wished them a prosperous future. He also expressed pride that students had strived very hard to acquire knowledge and skills par excellence with international standards.
