Iftaar Drive In Disabled Welfare Association
Bahria University Karachi Campus, SSC Community Support Center organized an activity on 21 May 2019 at Disable Welfare Association (Saddar Branch located in Karachi). This visit gave an opportunity to students to learn about the life struggling elements of disabled persons and how do they manage their problems.
DWA started its journey as a protest group to win self-respect, equality and social acceptance for Persons with disabilities in the mainstream of the Society. Initially the students were briefed about the working of the DWA and their activities (especially HANDS ILC Project) by DWA CEO and Other Senior Executives. One of the amazing facts was that organization is being run by mostly disabled people
Student were informed that as being a leading DPO, DWA has adopted multidirectional approaches to bring ease in every aspect of life of persons with disabilities. The organization deals in assistance of many types of disabilities like deaf disability, muscular atrophy, polio etc. The organization has an innovative mobility solution to its credit and there is free distribution of mobility aids. It has created ample opportunities for the capacity building of youths with disabilities. It has conducted inclusive sports, disability awareness campaigns including seminars, walks, press conferences and sessions in universities and in corporate organization for creating an inclusive society
The association has three storey building with facilities for disabled persons like
- Therapy section,
- Double story beds,
- Snooker etc.
DISTRIBUTION OF IFTAR MEALS
Bahria University Students doing Community support activity distributed Iftaar meals to disabled persons as a goodwill gesture to share blessings of Holy month of Ramadan with the special people.
