Objectives of the Programme:
- Equip Participants with practical skills in GIS, Remote Sensing, and cloud-based geospatial tools to analyse and solve real-world spatial problems across sectors including urban planning, disaster management, agriculture, and environmental monitoring.
- Prepare Participants for professional roles in geospatial consulting, government agencies, research organizations, and the private sector, contributing to evidence-based decision-making and national development.
- Promote ethical geospatial practice and exposure to emerging technologies including AI in GIS, web mapping, and cloud-based remote sensing to support continuous professional growth.
Outcomes of the Programme:
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Apply GIS tools for spatial data processing — collect, manage, and analyse vector and raster data using ArcGIS and QGIS to solve real-world spatial problems.
- Process and interpret satellite imagery — perform image pre-processing, classification, and change detection using ERDAS Imagine for thematic mapping and earth observation.
- Conduct cloud-based geospatial analysis — utilize Google Earth Engine to process large-scale satellite datasets and perform advanced spatial analysis in a cloud environment.
- Design and publish interactive web maps — build and share professional maps, dashboards, and story maps using ArcGIS Online, Mapbox, and Leaflet.
- Automate geospatial workflows using Python — develop scripts using GeoPandas, Rasterio, and Folium for spatial data processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Uphold ethical geospatial practice — ensure data integrity, comply with spatial data standards, and engage with emerging technologies including AI in GIS and cloud-based remote sensing.
