Objectives of the Program:
MS BT Degree Program is designed to:
- To provide in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of core and emerging areas of biotechnology.
- To develop strong practical skills through interdisciplinary research in modern laboratory and research techniques.
- To train students in molecular biology, genetic engineering, bioinformatics, and bioprocessing.
- To enhance critical thinking, data analysis, and scientific problem-solving abilities through independent research projects.
- To prepare graduates for careers in research institutions, pharmaceutical industries, diagnostics, agriculture, and academia.
- To provide strong foundation and lifelong learning for pursuing PhD programs and advanced research in biotechnology and related fields.
- To provide awareness of biosafety, bioethics, intellectual property rights, and regulatory frameworks in biotechnology.
- To enhance scientific communication, teamwork, and professional skills.
Outcomes of the Program:
At the end of the Program Biotechnologist will be able to
- Apply comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge of core and emerging areas of biotechnology.
- Perform advanced laboratory and research techniques using interdisciplinary approaches with accuracy and safety.
- Apply modern techniques in molecular biology, genetic engineering, bioinformatics, and bioprocessing to address biological problems.
- Design, execute, interpret experimental data and manage independent research projects following scientific methodology and use bioinformatics and statistical tools effectively.
- Apply critical thinking and solve real-world biological problems relevant to healthcare, agriculture, industry, and the environment through innovative solutions.
- Apply principles of biosafety, bioethics, intellectual property rights, and regulatory compliance in biotechnology practices.
- Present research findings effectively through written reports, oral presentations, and scientific publications.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum 16 years of education with BS in Biotechnology / Biosciences / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Physiology / Zoology / Botany / Medical Lab technology / Food science and technology / Genetics or MSc or equivalent degree from an HEC recognized university in the relevant discipline/field of study with a minimum CGPA 2.5/4.0 or 50% marks where CGPA is not given.
- All candidates seeking admission are required to appear in entrance test which will be conducted by Bahria University on particular time and date with 50 % passing marks in a BU test.
