Academic Calender

A calendar of study program and Curricular activities during an academic year shall be called academic calendar. The academic year shall usually cover only three semesters ( Fall, Spring & Summer). The usual duration of the Fall and Spring Semesters will be 18 weeks and the Summer Semester of 9 weeks. The exact date of commencement and completion of each semester alongwith credit hours and date of examinations shall be notified in the academic calendar in advance.

Criteria for Award of Medals at Convocation

Criteria for the award of gold and silver medals at convocations of Bahria University is appended below:-

                 For regular students of same batch:

                     Should be a regular student
                     Taken full load i.e:

                               o     No withdrawal
                               o     No repetition
                               o     No failure
                               o     No ‘I’
                               o     No Summer Semesters
                               o     No Course Drop

                     Highest CGPA for the student fulfilling above criteria
                     CGPA to be > 3.5

                For Credit transfer cases:

                      Such cases should not be catered for the award of
                          Gold/Silver medals.

In case of same CGPA the percentages achieved by students would determine the 1st (gold) and 2nd (silver) medals. If the percentages are also same than total number of students would be awarded medals as follows:

Gold Medal:   All students having same CGPA and same percentages will be awarded gold medals.

 N.B.    In this case there will be no silver medal awardee.

 Silver Medal:  All students having same CGPA and same percentages in this category will be awarded silver medals.

 N.B.     In this case only one single student would be receiving the gold medals.

This criteria is to be enforced for all programs that would be considered for convocation in future.

Academic Guidance

Bahria University provides academic guidance to all through academic advisers. The student-adviser relationship is viewed as a partnership. Both members of the team have responsibilities which, when properly fulfilled, enhance the student's opportunities for academic success. Responsibilities of student adviser include guidance in selection of courses, informing and explaining admission procedure, transfer of credits and assisting in the general adjustments to university life, serving as resource person for university information and guiding students to meet graduation requirements.

It is the student's responsibility to know their degree requirements, to be accountable for university policies, and to obtain course- scheduling information. Students are encouraged to meet with their
advisor to inform him/her of problems that may affect academic performance, and utilize the advisor's expertise to most effectively achieve their academic goals. The student holds full responsibility
for completion of degree requirements, including pre-requisites.

Talent Enhancing Activities

Students are encouraged to join different Societies such as Marketing Society, IT Society, Entertainment Society, Debating Society and Sports Society. Members of these societies work
closely with the staff and faculty in coordinating extra-curricular activities and providing opportunities for students' personal and professional advancement. Some of the activities of the societies
include events such as arranging picnics, sponsoring study tours, inviting guest speakers, assisting in holding of seminars, magazine publishing and holding of get-togethers / sports events.

Academic Support Services

One of Bahria University's chief attractions is its impressive and extensive range of student support services. These services include Computer Laboratories, Hardware Laboratories, Multimedia, Internet, E-mail, Auditorium, Presentation Hall, Cafeteria and the Library.

Computer Labs
Computer facilities provide resources for instructional and research purposes at all of the campuses. The central facilities include open access laboratories equipped with PCs connected to a number of PC servers. Special equipment such as multimedia and scanners are also available.

The computer labs provide access for students and faculty to support educational activities through multiple software programs and Internet access.

The students have access to the R&D laboratory which is equipped with SUN Workstations. They can also utilize the hardware research laboratories which are equipped with the latest equipment such as Logic design trainer kits, Microprocessor trainer kits and Soldering stations.

Library
Students have access to the library to accommodate their research requirements and quiet educational studying needs. The library provides electronic access via the Internet to databases
throughout the world. Special access rights have been obtained from many database sources to ensure that BU's students have the most up-to-date information available to back up their course
requirements. In addition, the library has hard copy periodicals, reference books, and other resources to accommodate the students' educational learning process.

Campus Cafeteria
From a quick snack to a substantial meal, our campus cafeteria can bring you good food at affordable prices. The daily selection includes sandwiches, freshly prepared meals for lunch and a
variety of fast food items from pizza to kebab rolls, potato chips and vending services for a variety of soft drinks and beverages.

Partnership in Learning

It is the University's endeavor to set out the general principles of the partnership between the University and its Students, so that both can work to get the best out of your student life for you. This
includes specifying objectives and standards for all University services offered to students and identifying the principles which a student should adopt for the relationship to be mutually beneficial.
A summary of the main responsibilities of this "Partnership in Learning" is given below so that you can get a flavor of the kind of commitments and principles that we will together follow to give you
the best student experience that we can achieve. To this end the University will:

  • Ensure that everyone who can benefit has a right to higher education. Students will therefore be treated fairly and on merit, in line with best equal opportunities' practice.
  • Provide education of a quality that will enhance the intellectual ability, practical skills and career prospects of each student. The University will, wherever practicable, provide students with
    choice within their academic programs.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information about its courses, methods of assessment, type of teaching and services.
  • Supply a detailed statement about the Curriculum being followed by its students and will provide a comfortable and well equipped learning environment.
  • Provide suitable support and guidance services, these include 11personal counselling and career advice.
  • Involve students in the decision-making process regarding academic matters through a process of evaluation based on feedback received on a regular basis from students.
  • Maintain independent and impartial procedures for dealing justly with appeals, complaints and redress.
  • The Students on their part will:
  • Take advantage of the educational opportunities available to them, including contributing to seminars, tutorials and group projects.
  • Engage other students and teaching staff in intellectual debate and inquiry.
  • Respond appropriately to course work deadlines, and other assessment requirements.
  • Conduct themselves in such a way as to ensure opportunities for all students to take part in University life, through adherence to Code of Conduct and the equal opportunities policies.
  • Contribute via their representatives to the improvement of courses, syllabi and curriculum

Internships

Internship program helps students to become familiar with prospective employers while simultaneously exposing them to the employers for permanent employment after Graduation.

Minimum period of internship is six weeks for Graduating students of Bachelor/Masters programs. The students must meet the following requirements, before they can be recommended by the respective institutes for Internship:

  • BBA/BS students should have completed atleast four semesters and the MBA/MS students should have completed atleast two semesters.
  • The CGPA of the student at the end of the above said period should not be below 2.5.
  • The student will be expected to work on a project during the internship and submit a report at the end of the internship. The report will be submitted to the Institute for evaluation and award of a grade or acceptable / unacceptable status depending on its quality. Reports received without certificate from the organization in which internship was carried out will not be evaluated.
  • Procedure/Duration of Internship at IPP may vary according to Institute's peculiar requirements.

Student Code of Conduct

Integrity and honesty are the basic ingredients of foundation of any institution of higher learning and form the building blocks of the character of its graduates. The Institute strives for the highest standards of academic integrity and discipline prevalent at any reputable institution in the world. A 'Student Discipline Committee', and various other measures regularly monitor the activities of the students and are empowered to take requisite measures for maintenance of standards in the institute. Unauthorized use of the University's name or logo that is the property of the University.

Harassment, sexual or otherwise, or intimidation of any member of the University community while on University premises or during University sponsored events.

Coming late for classes.

Improper/inappropriate uniform.

Horse play, skylarking etc in Cafeteria/Common areas.

Non clearing of bills/dues.



Student Card
Students are issued Student ID Cards. They are required to have ID Cards displayed on uniform while in the campus. No one is permitted entry without the card.

Smoking
Smoking is strictly prohibited within the University permisses.
