Bahria University is the first Pakistani University to attend the Harvard
National Model United Nations (HNMUN), Organized by Harvard University, USA.
Founded in 1955 only a decade after the United Nations, HNMUN is the
largest, oldest, and most prestigious conference of its kind. It is attended
by more than 3000 delegates from US and over 30 countries around the world.
Delegate from each university is allotted a country which they will
represent, divided in different committees, debating various issues, from 14th
to 17th Feb, 2008, depicting a model image of United Nations
(UN). Bahria University is the first Pakistani University to be part of this
prestigious conference which has been held yearly for last 53 years.
The purpose of this conference is to teach students about
international relations and consensus building, but the way it is conducted
is quite different from a traditional program. It engages students as if
they were actual delegates in the U.N. The conference offers wide range of
committees that will ask delegates to think deeply about international
issues and question their prior beliefs. The delegates work closely with
other students to develop innovative solutions to global problems ranging
from socio economic to political to historical. Accompanied by the Director
Institute, Commodore (R) Sajid Waseem Qureshi, BU delegate comprises of
